Abstract:
Provided is a glass that has excellent solarization resistance and that can be stably manufactured without requiring a special operation. This multicomponent oxide glass is characterized by having a composition containing 45-53 mol% of SiO2, 22-30 mol% of B2O3, 5-9 mol% of Al2O3, 0.02-0.10 mol% of Sb2O3, 0-18 mol% of Li2O, 0-18 mol% of Na2O, 0-18 mol% of K2O, 0-13 mol% of MgO, 0-13 mol% of CaO, 0-13 mol% of BaO, and 0-13 mol% of ZnO, and is characterized in that: 11≤X≤18 and 14≤X+Y≤24 are satisfied when the total contained amount of Li2O, Na2O, and K2O is defined as X (mol%) and the total contained amount of MgO, CaO, BaO, and ZnO is defined as Y (mol%); and the value of βOH calculated from formula βOH=α/t [in the formula, α represents the height (-) of an absorption peak attributed to OH groups and present within the range of 3400 cm-1-3800 cm-1 in an infrared ray absorption spectrum, and t represents the thickness (cm) of the glass] is not less than 4 cm-1.
