Abstract:

The purpose of the present invention is to provide an operator with a definite tactile response indicating that a switch has been turned on in a desired direction. Disclosed is a multidirectional input device having: a manipulation knob manipulatable in multiple manipulation directions; multiple direction setting switches, each being turned on when pressed by means of manipulation of the manipulation knob; and a tactile response generation unit for generating a different tactile response from that of the direction setting switches. The tactile response is generated by the tactile response generation unit after at least one of the multiple direction setting switches is turned on in a given manipulation direction among the multiple manipulation directions.
