Abstract:
Provided is a norbornene-type polymer solution which has a high solution concentration that is suitable for the production of cast films, and which can have sufficient fluidability even when a norbornene-type polymer having a glass transition temperature of 170°C or higher is contained.
A norbornene-type polymer solution comprising a norbornene-type polymer and a solvent, wherein the norbornene-type polymer has a glass transition temperature of 170°C or higher and a weight average molecular weight of 5,000 to 250,000 inclusive in terms of polystyrene as measured by gel permeation chromatography, and also has such a property that a 20 wt% solution, which is prepared by dissolving the norbornene-type polymer in at least one solvent selected from an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent, an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent and a halogen-containing hydrocarbon solvent, has a viscosity of 20,000 mPa·s or less when the 20 wt% solution is allowed to stand at 23°C for 24 hours.
