Title:
NOVEL MICROORGANISM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2003/055985
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A novel ultrathermophilic microorganism, more specifically, an ultrathermophilic microorganism (Caldothrix satumae) belonging to a new genus which originates in compost obtained by fermenting organic waste matters at 85°C or above and can grow at 80°C or above. This ultrathermophilic microorganism would not grow at 50 °C or below but vigorously grows and proliferates at 70 to 85 °C. It is a gram−negative and absolutely aerobic bacillus which forms no spore. It is useful as a fermenting microorganism in producing compost. Also, it is usable in producing a thermophilic enzyme.
