Title:
NOVEL TRIS- OR NEOPENTYL GLYCOL-BASED AMPHIPATHIC COMPOUND AND APPLICATION THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2017/104897
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a Tris- or neopentyl glycol-based amphipathic compound, a method for producing same, and a method for extracting, emulsifying, stabilizing or crystallizing a membrane protein by means of the amphipathic compound. Utilizing the Tris- or neopentyl glycol-based amphipathic compound according to the present invention allows the membrane protein to be not only effectively emulsified, but also allows stable storage in a solution for an extended period and allows the structural fluidity of the membrane protein to be easily maintained, thus said properties can be applied in the functional and structural analysis of the membrane protein. The structural and functional analysis of membrane protein is one of the areas of high interest currently in biology and chemistry, and as more than half of the new medicines currently in development target the membrane protein, the present invention can be applied to the membrane protein structure research which has a close relationship to the development of new medicine.
