The objective of the present invention is to perform object detection more rapidly and more accurately by detecting the characteristics of a flicker component. An object detecting device according to an embodiment of the present invention is provided with: a solid-state image capturing device (200) which is provided with a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix, and which detects the occurrence of an event in the pixels in accordance with an amount of light incident on each pixel; a flicker detecting unit (12) which generates flicker information on the basis of the occurrence of the event detected by the solid-state image capturing device; and an object detecting unit (15) which detects an object on the basis of the flicker information detected by the solid-state image capturing device.
