Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a compact observation optical system having high optical performance. [Solution] This observation optical system is designed to observe an image displayed on an image display surface, and has a negative lens and a positive lens. The negative lens and/or the positive lens has a Fresnel-shaped lens surface, and a predetermined conditional expression is satisfied when the power of the Fresnel-shaped lens surface (the maximum value of power if a plurality of Fresnel-shaped lens surfaces are present) is denoted by Φr, the power of the entire system of the observation optical system is denoted by Φf, the length (mm) of the maximum wall surface of the Fresnel-shaped lens surface is denoted by hsag, and the wavelength (mm) of the d line is denoted by λ.
