Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing an olefin copolymer that makes it possible to obtain a molded article having a small coefficient of linear expansion, and a film that contains the olefin copolymer. The olefin copolymer pertaining to the present invention contains monomer units (1) derived from at least one selected from the group consisting of ethylene and C3-20 straight-chain α-olefins, and monomer units (2) derived from a cyclic olefin represented by general formula (I), and meets conditions (a) through (c). (a) The glass transition temperature is 220°C or higher. (b) The ratio Mw/Mn of the weight-average molecular weight (Mw) expressed in terms of polystyrene and the number-average molecular weight (Mn) in terms of polystyrene, measured by gel permeation chromatography, is 2.2 or less. (c) The refractive index is less than 1.540.
