Abstract:
Provided are a detection device and an operation device that can be used with a game controller or the like, and that are able to reduce friction of a member to improve durability. The operation device receives an external operation via an operation unit. A detection device 2 built into the operation unit detects a movement of a shaft member 20 that moves when the external operation is received. The shaft member 20 is inserted into a hollow spherical body 21 having an outer shape formed into a substantially spherical shape. On the inside, the spherical body 21 is provided with magnets (first magnet 24, second magnet 25) that are secured at positions operationally associated with the movement of the shaft member 20, and a magnetism detection unit 23 that is secured at a securing position near the center and has a first magnetic field sensor 232 and a second magnetic field sensor 233 that detect a magnetic field formed by the magnets.
