Abstract:
This operation input device is characterized by comprising: a substrate formed of an insulator; a plurality of detection electrodes provided on a surface of the substrate; and a control unit, wherein the control unit detects an electrical capacitance generated between an operating body and each of the detection electrodes when the operating body is brought close to the substrate, and determines whether or not a gesture operation has been performed by the operating body, on the basis of a time period in which the detected electrical capacitance between the detection electrode and the operating body is equal to or greater than a first threshold, or on the basis of a length by which the operating body moves during the time period in which the detected electrical capacitance is equal to or greater than the first threshold.
