Abstract:
Provided are an optical biaxially stretched plastic film, a polarizing plate, and an image display device that can suppress blackout when visually recognized with polarized sunglasses or polarized goggles without increasing an in-plane phase difference, and provided is a method of selecting an optical biaxially stretched plastic film. The optical biaxially stretched plastic film has an area satisfying the following conditions 1 and 2. The difference (L1.n-L2.n) between the brightness obtained in specific measurement 1 and the brightness obtained in specific measurement 2 is calculated at 100 measurement points, and a "variation of brightness difference 3σ" calculated from the brightness differences of the 100 measurement points is 100 or more. The in-plane phase difference (Re) is 2500 nm or less.
