Abstract:
This optical character recognition device extracts a target region containing objects that are recognition subjects from an input image. The optical character recognition device extracts candidate objects containing at least one character string candidate object from among the objects contained in the target region. The optical character recognition device labels the candidate objects, extracts a plurality of objects in proximity to each other and extending in a predetermined direction as character string candidates, determines whether or not the character string candidates contain a date pattern containing a two or four digit number representing the year, a one or two digit number representing the month, and a predetermined punctuation mark, and when a character string candidate contains a date pattern, recognizes the character string candidate as a date.
