Abstract:
An optical detector (100) is provided with: a light-receiving element (14) that operates in a Geiger mode due to application of an operation voltage higher than a breakdown voltage, and that outputs a pulse signal in accordance with the incidence of light; a voltage-setting unit (20) that is capable of selectively applying, to the light-receiving element, any of the operation voltage and an inspection voltage lower than the breakdown voltage; and an abnormality determination unit (40) that performs an abnormality determination process in which it is determined that an abnormality has occurred when the number of pulse signals outputted from the light-receiving element operated using the inspection voltage is equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold value, and that no abnormality has occurred when the number of pulse signals is less than the threshold value.
