Abstract:
In the present invention, a line light source 10 is used as an illumination source for illuminating a paper sheet. A reference reflection plate 17 (reflection member) is disposed on a light path from the line light source 10 to a lens array at a position within a light-receiving region R of a light-receiving unit and outside of a read region W where an image of the paper sheet is read in a main scanning direction y. A light-transmission region 18, which allows light from the line light source 10 to pass therethrough and guides the light to approximately the focal point 21 of the lens array on a conveyance path, is formed at least on one side of the reference reflection plate 17 in a sub-scanning direction y.
