Abstract:
The present invention provides an optical multilayer body which is obtained by stacking a reflective polarizer and an absorptive polarizer, and which has high image sharpness in a virtual reality display device to which this optical multilayer body is applied; and this optical multilayer body is suitably used in a virtual reality display device by being bonded to a lens or the like. The present invention also provides a method for producing an optical multilayer body. An optical multilayer body according to the present invention comprises at least a reflective polarizer and an absorptive polarizer; the absorptive polarizer has an anisotropic absorption layer that contains at least a liquid crystalline compound and a dichroic dye; and the number of foreign substances which are present inside the optical multilayer body and have a side length of 30 µm or more is 100 or less per square meter.
