Abstract:
The present invention provides an optical multiplexer in which the bandwidth of transmitted light is enlarged. An optical multiplexer constituted from a multimode waveguide in which two single-mode input waveguides are connected with an interval therebetween, and two single-mode output waveguides connected with an interval therebetween to a surface facing the surface to which the input waveguides of the multimode waveguide are connected, wherein the width of the multimode waveguide is less than the width obtained by adding the width of the two input waveguides and the interval therebetween, the input waveguides and the multimode waveguide are connected by a tapered waveguide, and the multimode waveguide and the output waveguides are connected by a tapered waveguide.
