Abstract:
This parking assistance device is provided with: an overhead image generating unit which generates an overhead image from a captured image in which the periphery of a towing vehicle is captured; a towing determination unit which determines whether the towing vehicle is towing a towed vehicle; an overhead image display zone setting unit which selects a trimming zone from a plurality of display zones including at least a first display zone and a second display zone wider than the first display zone; and a display image generating unit which trims the trimming zone from the overhead image to generate an overhead image for display, and generates a display image including the overhead image for display onto which an image of the towing vehicle has been overlaid. The overhead image display zone setting unit selects the first display zone if the towing determination unit determines that the towing vehicle is not towing the towed vehicle, and selects the second display zone if the towing determination unit determines that the towing vehicle is towing the towed vehicle.
