Abstract:
The invention relates to an outboard engine (1) designed with a watertight housing (6), and a combustion engine (2) arranged therein, which extends up to the bottom of the hull (H) of a watercraft and is therefore partially submerged, wherein part of the housing (6) goes beyond the water line (WLh) and has a cover (15), wherein an underwater part (8) is applied beneath the housing in a stationary or rotatably mounted manner, said underwater part being able to advantageously remove the engine exhast gases (F) and cooling water (C) through the tandem propeller (11) or close to the outboard engine (1) via a float (33), wherein the entire outboard engine (1) is used as a steering means or only the housing (6) is mounted on the stern (Hx) in a fixed manner, and wherein the underwater part (8) is steerable and the outboard engine (1) can be trimmed and protected from mussel infestion by being completely tipped out of the water, said outboard engine being at least positively controlled in one direction with the hydrofoil (40).
