Abstract:
In the pattern color tone control method and controller of a printer, a target color mixture mesh density is set for every ink supply unit width when a print pattern is divided by the ink supply unit width of ink supply devices (6, 7) in order to perform color tone control using an IRGB densitometer even when printing is carried out at a density exceeding a presumed maximum color space, and actual color mixture mesh density is measured using the IRGB densitometer (1) for every ink supply unit width of a regular print sheet obtained by printing. Each color mixture mesh density is converted into a dot area ratio using well-known extended Neugebauer formula where Yule Nielsen coefficient n is set to a value that makes the relation of dot area ratio with color mixture mesh density substantially linear. It is further converted into a monochromatic mesh density and a solid density deviation corresponding to the deviation between a target monochromatic mesh density and an actual monochromatic mesh density is determined using the Yule Nielsen formula, and then ink supply is regulated for every ink supply unit width depending on the solid density deviation.
