Abstract:
A phase difference film which has little unevenness of phase difference in in-plane directions and the manufacturing method of the phase difference film are disclosed. A phase difference film whose in-plane direction refractive index difference at its surface is larger than its in-plane direction refractive index difference at the center of its thickness direction. In the manufacturing method of the phase difference film where a raw film which is produced by a solvent casting method or an extrusion film forming method is stretched, volatile components in the film are volatilized at least in one of the processes from the film forming process to the stretching process to make the in-plane direction refractive index difference in its surface larger than its in-plane direction refractive index difference at the center of its thickness direction.
