Abstract:
A phosphor capable of emitting luminescent radiation in the ultraviolet, visible or infrared region when exposed to light stimulus, electron beam stimulus, electric field stimulus, stress stimulus or radioactive ray stimulus, which phosphor is represented by the general formula (A1-xBx)2Si2O7 (wherein A is at least one member selected from the group consisting of Gd, Y, Lu and La, B is at least one member selected from among the rare earth elements other than those of A, and 0 < x ≤ 0.2). There are further provided a phosphor composition comprising the phosphor dispersed in a silica glass matrix and a scintillator wherein the same is used. These phosphor, phosphor composition, scintillator material and phosphor material exhibit high emission output and are excellent in workability.
