Abstract:
The present invention achieves a photoacoustic element having superior optical properties and acoustic properties. A photoacoustic element (1) comprises: a metal layer (10); a first member (11) joined to one primary surface of the metal layer (10); and a second member (12) joined to another primary surface of the metal layer (10). The metal layer (10) reflects light waves and allows photoacoustic waves derived from the light waves to pass therethrough. Materials for the metal layer (10), the first member (11), and the second member (12) are selected so that the acoustic impedance of the metal layer (10) and the acoustic impedances of the first member (11) and the second member (12) match.
