Abstract:
An embodiment of the present invention provides a photoelectrode formed from modified niobium oxide nanotube structures or comprising same. The modified niobium oxide nanotube structures are characterized by Nb 4+ ions self-doped by means of the reduction of Nb 5+ ions present in a niobium oxide nanotube structures. The modified niobium oxide nanotube structures, which are photoelectrode material, according to the present invention have enhanced light absorption and electrical conductivity, compared to niobium oxide nanotube structures before modification, by means of the self-doping of Nb 4+ ions. Therefore, by using the photoelectrode as an anode according to the present invention during a photoelectrochemical water treatment, radicals can be effectively generated under the condition of a predetermined optical density and applied voltage, and contaminants present in water to be treated can effectively be removed.
