Abstract:
Sealing and joining of plastic tubes are disclosed. Clamp mechanisms (7, 8) for plastic tubes and an auxiliary clam mechanism (11) therefor are installed, and an electric heating wire cutter (9) and an infrared heater (10) are installed. A plastic tube (3) is fusion-cut by moving the electric heating wire cutter (9) in a cross direction while clamping the plastic tube (3) by the clamp mechanisms (7, 8). Cut ends (6, 6') are noncontact-wise heated by the infrared heater (10) to have fusion zones (13, 13') formed on their inner surface and end surfaces, which are then crushed by the auxiliary clamp mechanism, the opposed inner surfaces being fused to serve as sealed ends. During tube cutting, the sealed end is cut by the electric heating wire (9), the cut end surface is noncontact-wise heated by infrared rays, and end surfaces are abutted against each other within a shaping form, thus forming the fusion zones.
