Title:
POLARIZING FILM AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1985/002814
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A polarizing film which includes a substrate resin and a dichromic substance features: (1) the uniaxial orientation coefficient f of the crystal principal axis of the film with respect to the reference axis is 0.7 or more; and the product (f x R), which is between the uniaxial orientation coefficient f and the ratio R (R=(Imin/Imax) x 100) between the maximum value (Imax) and the minimum value (Imin) of the X-ray diffraction intensities on the Debye-Scherrer ring which are measured when X-rays are applied to the surface orthogonal to the reference axis in parallel to the reference axis, is 10 or more. Also disclosed is a method of manufacturing the polarizing film. This polarizing film has excellent heat-resistant and moisture-resistant properties and a high degree of polarization.
