One aspect of the present invention provides a production method for a porous membrane comprising pores, and, on at least one of a pair of main surfaces, recessed portions having a mean opening diameter larger than the mean pore diameter of the pores, the production method including the step of forming the recessed portions on the surface that is to serve as the main surface.
