Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a positive electrode active material which has high mechanical strength, and which is capable of reducing positive electrode resistance and thus exhibiting better output characteristics when used in a lithium ion secondary battery. [Solution] Secondary particles have a d50 of 3.0 μm to 7.0 μm inclusive, a BET specific surface area of 2.0–5.0 m2/g, a tap density of 1.0–2.0 g/cm3, and oil absorption of 30–60 ml/100 g. The coefficient of variation of the concentration of an additive element M in each of a plurality of primary particles having a primary particle diameter of 0.1–1.0 μm is 1.5 or lower. The volume, per primary particle, of connection portions between primary particles is 5×105 nm3 to 9×107 nm3, said volume being obtained by means of the total volume of the connection portions and the number of primary particles constituting the secondary particles.
