Provided are a power receiver capable of adjusting receiving power, and a power transmission system. The present invention includes: a secondary-side resonance coil that receives power by means of magnetic field resonance or electric field resonance, which is generated between a primary-side resonance coil and the secondary-side resonance coil; capacitors inserted in series into a resonance coil unit of the secondary-side resonance coil; a series circuit of a first switch and a second switch, which are connected in parallel to the capacitors; a first rectifying element, which is connected in parallel to the first switch, and has the first rectifying direction; a second rectifying element, which is connected in parallel to the second switch, and has the second rectifying direction opposite to the first rectifying direction; a detection unit that detects the power received by the secondary-side resonance coil; and a control unit that adjusts the quantity of power to be received by the secondary-side resonance coil by adjusting the phases of a first signal and a second signal, which are for switching to turn on and off the first switch and the second switch.
