Abstract:
A predictive control method for a heat pump and solar-powered water heater combination system. The predictive control method is characterized by the steps of: established is a function for fitting a temperature increase ΔT of a water storage tank over time t, instantaneous amount of solar radiation e, average outdoor ambient temperature ThP, and the initial temperature TC of the water tank; by means of the described fitting method, meteorological conditions of a same period are fitted with the temperature increase ΔT curve to produce a set of temperature increase ΔT fitted curves in one different meteorological condition; because the actual temperature increase curve cannot perfectly fit the finite number of fitted curves in the set A, an actual predicted temperature increase curve needs to be revised to produce a final predicted temperature increase ΔT'; the sum of the final predicted temperature increase ΔT' and the initial water temperature TC is a predicted final temperature TZ of the water tank, and the difference ΔT" between a user-set water temperature TS and the predicted final temperature TZ of the water tank is the amount of heat for which auxiliary heating from a heat pump water heater is required. The advantages being: increased accuracy in predicting an effective heat gain from solar energy, increased energy efficiency ratio in periods during which a heat pump is running, and significant systemic energy saving effects.
