Abstract:
Provided are a prepreg and a carbon fiber reinforced composite material with excellent adhesion between the carbon fibers and matrix resin and excellent long-term storage stability, as well as excellent microcrack resistance due to enhanced toughness. The present invention is a prepreg in which sizing-agent-coated carbon fiber, which has been coated with a sizing agent containing an aliphatic epoxy compound (A) and an aromatic epoxy compound (B1), in the form of a fabric or braided cord is impregnated with a thermosetting resin composition containing a thermosetting resin (D), a thermoplastic resin (F) and a latent curing agent (G), characterized by the ratio (a)/(b) between the level of the bond energy component attributed to (a) CHx, C-C, or C=C in the C1s inner shell spectrum when the surface of the sizing-agent-coated carbon fibers is measured by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and the level of the bond energy component attributed to (b) C-O is within a predetermined range.
