Abstract:
Provided are: a molded article in which a low specific gravity and a high rigidity are both achieved, and further, wrinkles and thin spots are suppressed; and a manufacturing method therefor. To this end, provided is a press-molded article manufacturing method for performing press-molding of a sheet-shaped molding base material which is disposed in a cavity of a mold and in which reinforced fibers are dispersed at random in a matrix resin, by using a press-molding machine provided with a recessed mold for forming an opening of a molded article and a mold of a protruding part in which the cavity is formed, in correspondence to the recess, between the recessed mold and a protruding mold, and provided with a mold having at least one surface (B) in which, when pressure to be applied from the press-molding machine to a surface (A) orthogonal to the direction of pressure to be applied from the press-molding machine to the mold is 100%, the pressure to be applied is in the range of 0-70% with respect to the pressure to be applied to the surface (A), the press-molded article manufacturing method including: a shaping step (III) for applying a surface pressure of not less than 1 MPa as an external pressure from the press-molding machine to the surface (A) or the molding base material; and a pressure maintaining step (IV) for adjusting a pressure to be applied to the molding base material as an external pressure from the press-molding machine after the shaping step (III), to 0.1 MPa or less.
