Abstract:
A pressure control device has a magnetostriction element portion (2), urging means (3), magnetic field-applying means (4), pressure-detecting means (6), and a control portion (7). The magnetostriction element portion (2) is provided between one end of one of rotating rods (13a, 13b) and one end of the other rotating rod, the rotating rods (13a, 13b) being coaxially arranged and are unifiedly swingable about an axis (A) with the rods connected so as to be relatively non-rotatable and freely approachable to and withdrawable from each other along the axis (A). The urging means (3) causes the one end of one of the rotating rods (13a, 13b) and the one end of the other rotating rod to be in contact with each end portion of the magnetostriction element portion (2) by urging both rotating rods (13a, 13b) such that they approach each other. The magnetic field-applying means (4) causes to produce and applies a magnetic field (C) for adjusting the length of the magnetostriction element portion (2). The pressure-detecting means (6) detects a pressure in the axis (A) direction produced at both rotating rods (13a, 13b). The control portion (7) regulates the detected pressure constant by regulating the strength of the magnetic field (C) to adjust the length of the magnetostriction element portion (2).
