Abstract:
A process for preparing α- sulpho-fatty acid ester salt surfactant comprises: (1) sulphonating a fatty acid ester with SO3 to produce a crude sulphonic acid, (2) bleaching the crude sulphonic acid from step (1) with hydrogen peroxide; (3) secondarily esterifying the product from step (2) with alcohol;(4) neutralising the product from step (3) with an alkali solution; and (5) drying the product from step (4) to powder.
