Abstract:

Disclosed is a process for producing a glucopyranosyloxypyrazole derivative which is useful as a prophylactic or therapeutic agent for a disease induced by hyperglycemia, such as diabetes, a diabetes complication and obesity. A process for producing a glucopyranosyloxypyrazole derivative readily and efficiently, the process comprising reacting a benzylpyrazole derivative represented by the general formula: wherein R¹, R², R³, R⁴ and R⁵ independently represent, for example, a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or an alkyl, alkoxy or arylmethyloxy group; R⁶ represents an alkyl group; and R⁷ represents, for example, a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, alkoxy or arylmethyloxy group; with a compound represented by the general formula: wherein PG¹ represents, for example, a pivaloyl group; and X¹ represents, for example, a bromine atom. This process is quite useful as the process for producing a pharmaceutical.
