Abstract:
The present invention provides a device and method for producing a polarizing film that suppresses the occurrence of bright spots (light leakage) when employed in a liquid crystal display device. Provided is a production device for producing a polarizing film from a polyvinyl alcohol resin film, wherein the production device includes a plurality of rollers that form a conveyance path for the polyvinyl alcohol resin film and are disposed so as to be in contact with the surface of the polyvinyl alcohol resin film, a wet treatment unit that is disposed upon the conveyance path and includes at least one treatment tank housing a treatment liquid into which the polyvinyl alcohol resin film is immersed, and a drying treatment unit that is disposed upon the conveyance path and is for drying the polyvinyl alcohol resin film following the wet treatment. The plurality of rollers include a low rolling resistance roller with a rolling resistance of 0.025 N or less. Also provided are a production method using this device, and a polarizing film in which the density of specific concave and convex defects is no higher than 20 defects/m2.
