Abstract:
The present invention includes a chemical modification step for chemically modifying raw material pulp to obtain chemically-modified pulp, and a refining treatment step for refining the chemically-modified pulp obtained in the chemical modification step by using a disc refiner under such a condition that the concentration of solid contents is 15 wt% or less, to produce chemically-modified microfibril cellulose fibers having a BET specific surface area of 50 m2/g or more and an average fiber width of 500 nm or more.
