Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a novel production method for a polymer of a non-polar olefin (e.g., a copolymer of a non-polar olefin and a polar olefin). The present invention provides a production method for a polar olefin polymer or copolymer, the method including a polymerization step in which a polar olefin monomer is polymerized using, as a catalyst, a polymerization catalyst composition that comprises 1) a metallocene complex represented by general formula (I), which comprises a central metal M that is scandium (Sc) or yttrium (Y), a ligand Cp* including a cyclopentadienyl derivative and bonded to the central metal, monoanionic ligands Q1 and Q2 bonded to the central metal, and W neutral Lewis bases L, W being an integer of 0-3, and 2) an ionic compound comprising a non-coordinating anion and a cation.
