Abstract:
In order to project, without using a projection optical system, projection light for displaying an image not including a ghost image, this projection device comprises: a light source; a spatial light modulator that has a modulation unit on which light emitted from the light source is incident and that modulates the phase of the incident light; a control unit that allocates at least two modulation regions to the modulation unit of the spatial light modulator, sets, in the two modulation regions, phase images of the at least two images constituting a target image on a projection surface, and controls the light source so that light is incident on the modulation unit in which the phase images of the at least two images are set; and a shielding instrument that is disposed on an optical path of modulated light obtained by modulation by the modulation unit of the spatial light modulator and that allows, of the modulated light obtained by modulation in the at least two modulation regions set in the modulation unit of the spatial light modulator, a light component in an image region for forming a desired image to transmit therethrough as projection light, while shielding a light component in an unnecessary region including a ghost image of the desired image.
