Abstract:
This projection optical system is provided with: a dioptric system having positive refractive power as a whole and having, as a reference, a reference axis disposed at a position on which image light from a primary image plane is incident; and a catoptric system having a reflection plane that reflects the image light emitted from the dioptric system toward a projection plane forming a secondary image plane, and configured such that in a light beam effective range in which the image light is incident, the shape of the reflection plane becomes a rotationally symmetric aspherical shape having a sag amount in a direction opposite to the dioptric system with the reference axis as a rotation axis, and the shape within a cross section including the reference axis of the reflection plane has a shape inclined to approach a right angle in a region farthest from the reference axis in comparison with a region closest to the reference axis.
