Abstract:
Provided are: a protection element capable of blocking a current path safely and promptly by controlling the absorption of heat to a lower case; and a battery pack using this protection element. The present invention comprises a fusible conductor 3, and a housing 6 which has a lower case 4 and an upper case 5 and is formed by the joining of the lower case 4 and the upper case 5. The lower case 4 has a recessed surface portion 23 formed therein, a support part 21 that is formed on opposing side edges of the recessed surface portion 23, and a hollow section 22 provided to side edges that are substantially orthogonal to the opposing side edges of the recessed surface portion 23 where the support part 21 is provided.
