Abstract:
This railway crossing gate 1 has: a motor 4 that raises and lowers a crossbar; a motor drive unit 5; and a relay control unit 7. The motor drive unit 5 includes a relay 51 which is turned ON when drive voltage is applied thereto, and is configured to rotate the motor 4 in a direction that causes the crossbar to be raised when the relay 51 is turned ON and to rotate the motor 4 in a direction that causes the crossbar to be lowered when the relay 51 is turned OFF. The relay control unit 7 includes a capacitor 71 to which, as with to the relay 51, the drive voltage is applied while the relay 51 is turned ON, and is configured to temporarily turn ON the relay 51 by discharging electric charge accumulated in the capacitor 71 in the case when the load current of the motor 4 has exceeded a threshold during lowering of the crossbar, so as to cause the crossbar to be raised.
