Abstract:
The invention relates to a reactor for thermally treating a feedstock (1) for obtaining a hydrogen- and/or hydrocarbon-containing gas (19), said reactor having means (4; 34) for forming a bed of the feedstock, means (10, 15; 31, 32, 40) for heating the feedstock in the bed to a temperature which is below the melting temperature of the feedstock within the entire bed, such that an organic fraction of the feedstock is gasified to form a first gas, means (21) for cooling the feedstock using water after the gasification of the organic fraction, such that by cooling the feedstock steam is generated and the steam reacts endothermically in a water-gas reaction to form a second gas, means (18) for removing the second gas (19) from the reactor, wherein the first gas contains one or more carbon-containing compounds, and wherein the second gas contains hydrogen and/or hydrocarbon.
