Abstract:
Provided is a reactor that requires a small installation area, exhibits low loss, and can be manufactured efficiently. This reactor is equipped with: a coil that has a pair of laterally arranged winding sections on which a winding wire is spirally wound; and a magnetic core which has U-shaped core pieces made of a powder compact. Each U-shaped core piece includes: a side base section which has sections facing end faces of the pair of winding sections, is not covered by the winding sections, and is disposed so as to span across the pair of winding sections; a pair of middle sections which protrude from the side base section so as to be respectively disposed in the pair of winding sections and have end faces facing a gap; an extended side section which extends from the side base section in an direction intersecting with the axial direction of the middle sections; and a center protrusion section which protrudes in the opposite direction to that of the middle sections from a center area of the side base section in the lateral arrangement direction of the pair of middle sections.
