Abstract:
This rod manufacturing method includes: a step for preparing a hollow first member, and a second member formed to have a part having an outer diameter dimension that is less than the outer diameter dimension of the first member; a restraining step for bringing a restraining member into contact with an outer circumferential surface of the first member; a step for causing an inner circumferential surface of the first member and an outer circumferential surface of the second member to approach one another while at least one of the first member and the second member is being rotated; and, after the inner circumferential surface of the first member and the outer circumferential surface of the second member have come into contact with one another, a step for pushing the first member and the second member a prescribed amount in the axial direction to join the first member and the second member together by welding by means of friction.
