Abstract:
The present invention provides a roll press device provided with: a one-side roll support portion rotatably supporting a one-side roll; an other-side roll support portion rotatably supporting an other-side roll; and a moving device which, using an electric motor, causes the one-side roll support portion and the other-side roll support portion to be moved relative to each other to thereby control a gap between the one-side roll and the other-side roll. The tip position of a workpiece supplied into the gap is detected by a position sensor, and the moving device is controlled on the basis of the result of the detecting. At the point in time at which the tip position of the workpiece has passed a narrowest portion in the gap by a first predetermined distance, the gap is considered a compaction gap. Until the tip position of the workpiece passes the narrowest portion in the gap by the first predetermined distance, the gap is maintained wider than the compaction gap.
