Abstract:
There is provided a round billet that allows for a reduction in damage to a piercing plug in a method for producing seamless metal tubes using the Mannesmann method. A round billet (5) is a round billet for seamless metal tubes processed in a seamless metal tube using the Mannesmann method, wherein a hole (6) is formed along the axis of the body. The hole (6) has an opening (6a) that opens in at least one direction of the round billet (5), and a tapered section (61) formed continuously with the opening (6a) and having an aperture that grows larger toward the opening (6a).
