Abstract:
The present invention relates to a sandwich panel which can be advantageously applied to a wearable device, and to a method of manufacturing same. In particular, due to having the form in which a two-dimensional auxetic material is attached, as a sheet, to both sides of a regular core material, the sandwich panel of the present invention can be manufactured as lighter/thinner; can even afford a predetermined strength and hardness; and can be conferred with an anticlastic curvature characteristic comparable to that of a three-dimensional auxetic material when subjected to a bending moment, to thereby improve conformity to a substrate. Thus, the sandwich panel can be advantageously utilized as a structural material in a wearable device. Furthermore, the sandwich panel can be conveniently manufactured at a low cost by simply attaching a two-dimensional auxetic material, preprocessed in a sheet form, to a regular core material, and at the same time, can be conferred with behaviors comparable to those of a three-dimensional auxetic material. Thus, it is possible to conveniently overcome practical limitations arising when using a simple configuration with a conventional thin panel-shaped structural material using a conventional three-dimensional auxetic material, such as increased manufacturing difficulty, and hardness of the structural material becoming too low for application in a wearable device.
