The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a seamless stainless steel pipe that has exceptional corrosion resistance and high pipe-axial-direction tensile yield strength, the seamless stainless steel pipe being such that the difference between the pipe-axial-direction tensile yield strength and the pipe-axial-direction compressive yield strength is low; and a method for manufacturing the seamless stainless steel pipe.　A seamless stainless steel pipe made of stainless steel having a component composition containing, in terms of mass%, 11.5-35.0% of Cr and 0.5-6.0% of Mo, the stainless steel also including ferrite and austenite, and the seamless stainless steel pipe being such that: the Mo concentration (mass%) at the ferrite grain boundary or at the grain boundary of the ferrite and the austenite is no more than 4.0 times the Mo concentration (mass%) within the ferrite grains, or the Mo concentration (mass%) at the austenite grain boundary is no more than 4.0 times the Mo concentration (mass%) within the austenite grains; the pipe-axial-direction tensile yield strength is 689 MPa or higher; and the ratio pipe-axial-direction compressive yield strength/pipe-axial-direction tensile yield strength is 0.85-1.15.
