Abstract:
Provided is a positive electrode active material that is not susceptible to deterioration. Also provided are positive electrode active material particles that is not susceptible to deterioration. Also provided is a power storage device that is not susceptible to deterioration. Also provided is a safe power storage device. Also provided is a novel power storage device. Specifically provided is a secondary battery comprising a positive electrode and a negative electrode, wherein: the positive electrode has a positive electrode active material; the positive electrode active material has crystals exhibiting a layered rock salt crystal structure; the crystals belong to the space group R-3m; the positive electrode active material is composed of particles that contain lithium, cobalt, titanium, magnesium, and oxygen; the magnesium concentration in a surface layer part of the particles is higher than the magnesium concentration in the interiors of the particles; and in the positive electrode active material, the titanium concentration in the surface layer part of the particles is higher than the titanium concentration in the interiors of the particles.
