Abstract:
The present invention provides a separation-membrane nonwoven fabric and a method of manufacturing the same, which enable: prevention of strikethrough of a resin solution used for coating in the process of manufacturing a separation membrane; fabrication of a separation membrane having a large liquid permeation flux by nonsolvent induced phase separation; high adhesion between a coating film and a nonwoven fabric; and a thinner coating film. In an exemplary aspect of the present invention, a double-layered nonwoven fabric 10 for separation membranes is configured to have an obverse-side layer 11 with a Laplace force being high when impregnated with a membrane-producing coating solution and a reverse-side layer 12 with a Laplace force being low. A surface 11a of the obverse-side layer 11 is a surface to be coated with the coating solution during membrane production. The separation-membrane nonwoven fabric 10 can be manufactured by employing a wet papermaking method to sequentially form paper from: a fiber dispersion solution DS1 for the obverse-side layer, comprising at least one type of fine fiber FF that is of small fiber diameter, and at least one type of thick fiber TF that is of larger fiber diameter than the fine fiber FF; and a fiber dispersion solution DS2 for the reverse-side layer comprising only thick fiber TF.
